Tinhorn Creek Vineyard concert series returns for 2016

OLIVER – The Tinhorn Creek Vineyard concert series returns to the Oliver winery’s outdoor amphitheatre in 2016 with its first concert at the end of May.

Singer, songwriter and guitarist Pernell Reichert and the Pernell Reichert Band kicks off the series Saturday, May 28, with his high energy, finger picked, acoustic guitar numbers, followed by Freeflow on June 25, according to a media release from the winery.

Freeflow’s soul, funk, reggae and hip-hop musicians have drawn comparisons to such bands as Sublime and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. The Freeflow concert is June 25.

Vancouver-based singer-songwriter Daniel Wesley performs his blend of folk, reggae, blues and rock on July 23, while the August 27 concert features The Harpoonist and Axe Murderer, duo Shawn Hall and Matthew Rogers. Their energized primal blues genre is blues the way its meant to be played, unapologetic, rousing and rugged.

The season finale ends with the 54-40, already sold out, but there is a waiting list and you can have your name added to by calling 250-498-3743. Members of the band have been together for 30 years, turning out an impressive number of Canadian hit songs such as “Ocean Pearl,” “I go Blind,” and “One Day in Your Life.”

Gates open at 7 p.m. for 7:30 p.m. concert start for all venues.

The concert series also feature shuttle transportation to the winery from Osoyoos and Penticton.

I have been looking for news in the South Okanagan - SImilkameen for 20 years, having turned a part time lifelong interest into a full time profession. After five years publishing a local newsletter, several years working as a correspondent / stringer for several local newspapers and seven years as editor of a Similkameen weekly newspaper, I joined iNFOnews.ca in 2014. As an airborne geophysical surveyor I travelled extensively around the globe, conducting helicopter borne mineral surveys.

As a member of the Kaleden community, I have been involved in the Kaleden Volunteer Fire Department for 22 years, and also serve as a trustee on the Kaleden Irrigation District board.
I am currently married to my wife Judy, of 26 years. We are empty-nesters who enjoy living in Kaleden with our Welsh Terrier, Angus, and cat, Tibbs.
Our two daughters, Meagan and Hayley, reside in Richmond and Victoria, respectively.
