INVESTIGATION CONTINUES INTO LARGE-SCALE GRAD PARTY IN KAMLOOPS
KAMLOOPS – RCMP continue to investigate an alleged sexual assault at a graduation bush party earlier this month and have an 18-year-old male 'person of interest.'
RCMP received a report that a 17-year-old female was taken into the bush and sexually assaulted at a 'Passing of the Torch' party at Tree Flats in Barnhartvale on June 18.
RCMP believe about 1,000 people attended the party and pleaded to the public for information or evidence pertaining to the alleged crime.
Kamloops RCMP Cpl. Cheryl Bush said police have interviewed about 10 people so far with conflicting stories.
"This is not unusual," Bush said.
One male voluntarily came forward in relation to the incident. In co-operation with police, he was interviewed and released.
"This individual was released without charges," Bush said.
Bush would not confirm nor deny whether he was a suspect.
"The investigation is ongoing at this point," she said.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the local detachment at 250-828-3000.
