SODUS, N.Y. – Authorities say they have charged a man with fatally stabbing a 17-year-old girl in an upstate New York neighbourhood.
The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office says 19-year-old David Knight-Hollis was charged Friday with second-degree murder in the death of Alyssa Taft, a senior at Sodus High School.
Authorities say the two had previously dated, but weren’t in a relationship when Taft was killed.
Court documents say Knight-Hollis stabbed the teen in the chest and slit her throat Thursday afternoon at his home in a mobile home neighbourhood in Sodus (SOH’-duhs), 25 miles (40 kilometres) east of Rochester.
Officials say her body was found at his home.
Knight-Hollis pleaded not guilty and was being held without bail in the county jail. Authorities said he doesn’t have a lawyer yet.
