World curling champion Jennifer Jones and partner Brent Laing are parents

Canadian and world champion curler Jennifer Jones has given birth to a baby girl.

Jones, 38, delivered Isabella Ann in Winnipeg on Tuesday.

“She was born a few weeks early but is doing great,” Jones said in an e-mail to The Canadian Press.

It was the first child for Jones and partner Brent Laing, who plays second on Glenn Howard’s curling team.

Jones is taking part of season off from curling, but intends to return to the ice.

Jones and teammates Kaitlyn Lawes, Jill Officer and Dawn Askin are defending provincial champions in Manitoba and have a berth in the 2013 Olympic curling trials.

The trials winner represents Canada in women’s curling at the 2014 Winter Games in Sochi, Russia.
