RICHMOND, B.C. – Richmond RCMP believe alcohol played a role in a deadly weekend crash that has left one person dead and another in critical condition.
The Mounties say a Mercedes-Benz sedan rear-ended a Porsche (on Grant McConachie Way near Aviation Avenue) in Richmond, B.C.
The collision sent the Porsche careening off road before it went airborne and slammed into a tree shortly before 10 p.m. on Saturday.
The Porsche’s driver, a 50-year-old man from Delta, B.C., was taken to hospital in critical condition.
His passenger, a 42-year-old woman visiting from Costa Rica, died in the crash.
The Mercedes-Benz driver was a 24-year-old man from Vancouver who police say suffered serious injuries but is expected to recover.
