Kamloops movie buffs looking to get out of the house may want to check out some Canadian and international films this week at the 17th annual Kamloops Film Festival.

A variety of films, typically less conventional and less popular than mainstream films, are shown every day at the Paramount Theatre downtown Kamloops with prizes to be won before each showing for correctly answered movie trivia.

Critics have the opportunity to voice their opinions after some films that are followed by discussions and special guests meant to dive deeper into the film meanings.

The festival also features a charity film each year with all the profits donated to a local cause. This year The Perks of Being a Wallflower will play on March 15 at 7 p.m. with revenues going directly to the Kamloops Pride Gay and Lesbian Association.

The festival ends on March 16 and will be followed by a celebration at the Noble Pig Brewhouse, 650 Victoria St., to conclude the event.
