LOS ANGELES, Calif. – A judge has heard arguments by attorneys for actress Kelly Rutherford and her ex-husband about whether their international custody dispute should be handled by a Los Angeles court.
Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Mark Juhas told attorneys he will issue a ruling as soon as possible, but called it a “hard case.”
Juhas’ ruling will only concern whether he has authority to make new custody orders over the pair’s two children, ages 8 and 6. His ruling won’t impact the current custodial arrangements, which call for the children to live with their father in Monaco.
Rutherford’s ex-husband, Daniel Giersch, contends the California court has lost control over the case because Rutherford now lives in New York.
Rutherford, however, points to financial and family ties in California as reasons the case should remain in Los Angeles.
