Girl, 4, killed by dog in Chesterfield Inlet, Nunavut

CHESTERFIELD INLET, Nunavut – A four-year-old girl has been killed in a dog attack in a remote community in Nunavut.

Police say the toddler from Chesterfield Inlet along the west coast of Hudson Bay was attacked Monday afternoon.

She was taken to hospital but was pronounced dead when she arrived.

RCMP Const. Lurene Dillon said the dog didn’t belong to the girl’s family.

Dillon said the animal was properly tied up at the time.

Nunavut’s coroner was on the scene and police were investigating.
