Puerto Rico policeman detained after crashing into car

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico – Authorities in Puerto Rico have detained a policeman they say crashed into a car carrying a pregnant woman he was escorting to the hospital.

Police said a judge ordered Agent Luis Medina to undergo a blood alcohol test after he refused to take such a test following the crash early Friday. It was not immediately clear if Medina has an attorney. Authorities said he was off-duty at the time.

Officials said the pregnant woman was uninjured and is in the hospital recovering from an unrelated condition.
