SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico – Federal authorities in Puerto Rico say the Border Patrol chased a boat running without lights and seized $3.7 million in cash from the vessel after the people aboard landed and fled.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection said Monday that the boat had been headed for the U.S. Virgin Islands, but veered back to Puerto Rico’s northeast coast when pursued on Sunday.
Agents found five bags of money on the boat, as well as a pistol and 63 rounds of ammunition.
No one has been arrested and the identity of those who had been aboard was unclear.
