KAMLOOPS, B.C. – The Independent Investigations Office says it will be up to Crown counsel to decide if an incident involving a Kamloops, B.C., RCMP officer and a fleeing suspect will result in charges against the Mountie.
Office spokeswoman Kellie Kilpatrick says the probe has been completed into the incident that occurred Sept. 14, 2014.
Kilpatrick says police were trying to arrest a man when he fled and jumped over a fence.
The man suffered severe spinal injuries.
The IIO investigates all police-involved incidents in B.C. involving death or serious injury.
Kilpatrick says the office does not recommend charges, but forwards its findings to the Criminal Justice Branch for a ruling. (CHNL)
