University of Wyoming cancels classes ahead of storm

LARAMIE, Wyo. – The University of Wyoming has cancelled classes for this week ahead of a winter storm bearing down on the southern side of the state and northeast Colorado.

The university announced that classes for Monday and Tuesday were cancelled to help students travelling for the Thanksgiving holiday.

The university says the Laramie campus will remain open although that could change depending on the weather conditions.

The National Weather Service has posted a winter storm warning for much of the southern half of Wyoming along the Interstate 80 corridor, including Laramie, Cheyenne, Rock Springs and Rawlins.

Up to 15 inches (38 centimetres) of snow and near blizzard conditions are expected in some areas.
