Remains of two unnamed victims found in burned home near Vernon, B.C.

VERNON, B.C. – RCMP in Vernon, B.C., say two people are now confirmed to have died in a fire last month that destroyed a home near the north Okanagan city.

The detachment says in a news release that an investigation into the May 21 blaze is still underway but the examination of the scene has wrapped up.

Const. Kelly Brett says the remains of two people listed as missing after the early morning fire were found inside the home on the west side of Okanagan Lake, southwest of Vernon.

No names have been released.

Brett says RCMP members in Vernon are working with the BC Coroners Service to positively identify the people.

She also says the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
