Three dead after fiery vehicle accident on Toronto highway

TORONTO – Three people died in a vehicle accident in Toronto early Saturday morning.

Ontario Provincial Police say the vehicle veered of Highway 427 near Highway 401 and struck a guard rail.

The vehicle burst into flames and was consumed by the blaze.

Police say it’s believed there was one male and two females in the vehicle but it may take days to positively identify the victims.

They say witnesses who stopped at the scene were able to pull one of the females out of the wreckage.

She was taken to hospital but died of her injuries.

The other two victims were pronounced dead at the scene.

A statement emailed to The Canadian Press from the CHAMP Management agency identifies the male victim as Shane Redway, an aspiring Toronto-area rapper.

The statement says Redway’s family has asked for privacy during this time of mourning.
