TORONTO – DesRosiers Automotive Consultants says demand for light trucks helped drive auto sales 0.4 per cent higher last month compared to the same period a year ago.
Canadians snatched up 177,844 new vehicles in July, compared with 177,108 in July 2014.
Sales of light trucks grew by 8.2 per cent to 111,067, compared with 102,648 a year ago.
Meanwhile, sales of passenger cars slipped 10.3 per cent to 66,777 vehicles, from 74,460 in July 2014.
Fiat Chrysler claimed top spot with 28,611 vehicles, while Ford followed with 27,176 new vehicle sales.
General Motors was third, reporting sales of 22,826 new vehicles last month.
