RESULTS EXPECTED TODAY ON WESTJET VOTE

The results of a two-week vote on whether WestJet pilots will form the company’s first union are expected today. The airline’s roughly 1,300 pilots have been voting by secret ballot on whether to recognize the WestJet Professional Pilots Association as their official bargaining unit. The association says it’s time the company’s pilots are represented through a certified union as WestJet grows.

OFFICIALS PREDICT MORE WILDFIRES IN B.C.

A spike in human-caused wildfires across British Columbia has the forests minister calling for more vigilance from the public. Steve Thomson said only 18 of the 31 flare-ups over the long weekend were caused by lightning while the rest had people to blame. As of Tuesday, 140 fires were burning in the province out of the nearly 1,400 blazes that started since April.

POLICE SEEK WITNESSES IN TORONTO NIGHTCLUB SHOOTING

Police investigating a “brazen” fatal shooting at a packed Toronto nightclub early Tuesday are calling for witnesses to come forward. Two people were killed and three others were injured after shots were fired at the Muzik nightclub.Police were also asking for public help in identifying two “persons of interest” and anyone with photos or video from the incident to share it with investigators.

CANADA-U.S.-DEBATES TO OVERLAP

In a random political alignment in North America, both Canada and the United States will hold their first formal debates of this election cycle on Thursday evening. The Republican primary debate in Cleveland, which will include Donald Trump, will begin at 9 p.m. ET, an hour into the Canadian leaders’ showdown in Toronto.
