Apartment building planned to replace vacant Kamloops pub

KAMLOOPS – A developer with plans to replace the former Sports Central Pub site with an apartment complex are back at council this week.

Instead of the current liquor store and vacant pub, Kelson Group, owner of the Sahali property, is looking to build a four-storey apartment building with 110 units at 1430 Summit Dr.

The property management company has applied to rezone the property to allow for the residential project.

City council will have a look at the rezoning application at its meeting tomorrow, May 31, and decide whether or not the project should move to the public hearing phase.

Kelly Fawcett of Kelson Group says if the project goes to a public hearing and the rezoning is approved, construction could start in mid-August.
