Kelowna man found napping in stolen car

KELOWNA – A suspected car thief has a date with a judge today after Kelowna RCMP found him sound asleep behind the wheel early this morning.

Police says they were called to a report about a suspicious vehicle around 4:03 a.m., June 10, in the 500 block of Keithley Road in Rutland.

The officers found a man fast asleep in the driver’s seat of a red Saturn Ion which had been reported stolen in Lake Country on June 6, according to a RCMP media release.

The suspect was arrested, and when he was identified, police found he was wanted on two unrelated warrants for his arrest.

A 25-year-old Kelowna man is facing a charge of possession of stolen property and is scheduled to appear in court today.
