Canada Post to close website on weekend for IT upgrade

OTTAWA – Canadians looking to track a package on the Canada Post website this weekend will be out of luck.

Canada Post says it will shut down its canadapost.ca website, along with its web services and mobile app, from 9 p.m. ET on Friday until 7 p.m. ET on Sunday.

The Crown corporation says it needs to complete an “important upgrade” of its IT infrastructure to improve the stability, security and capacity of its platform.

The shutdown will affect all of Canada Post’s online and retail IT systems.

It says customers will be able to find updates at a special web page during the outage (at canadapost.ca/outage) and on the Canada Post Twitter feed.
