Kamloops RCMP was called to assist with traffic and pedestrian control after a fire broke out and destroyed a mobile home park at 2400 Oak Hills Blvd. just before 10:30 a.m. today.

A 59-year-old woman living in the trailer escaped without injuries after first noticing flames coming from the deck side of her trailer as she walked down a hallway inside the home.  The woman said she was on the telephone and did not smell any smoke or hear any noise prior to seeing the flames.

Neighbourhood inquiries conducted by police did not reveal anything suspicious or anyone unusual prior to the fire. The mobile home park is generally quiet and is known to house a number of retired people and seniors.

A fire investigator from Kamloops Fire and Rescue was at the site and preliminary examination of the scene did not reveal anything suspicious in connection with the blaze. Investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.
