Danny has weakened to a tropical depression as it moves over the southern Leeward Islands.

The storm’s maximum sustained winds Monday morning have decreased to near 35 mph (55 kph). The U.S. National Hurricane Center says Danny is expected to continue weakening and degenerate into a remnant low later in the day.

The depression is centred about 20 miles (30 kilometres) south of Guadeloupe and is moving west near 12 mph (19 kph).

A tropical storm warning remains in effect for Saba and St. Eustatius.
