CIS Roundup: Gryphons improve to 2-0 with 30-19 victory over Golden Hawks

GUELPH, Ont. – Quarterback James Roberts completed 22-of-41 passes for 295 yards and a touchdown to lead the Guelph Gryphons to a 30-19 victory over the Laurier Golden Hawks in CIS football action on Monday.

Roberts found receiver Jacob Scarfone for a 37-yard touchdown in the second quarter, Daniel Palmer-Salmon ran in an 11-yard score in the third, and kicker Gabriel Ferraro contributed 14 points for the Gryphons (2-0).

Laurier (1-1) quarterback James Fracas threw three interceptions to go along with his one TD strike and 293 yards.

Dillon Campbell and Daniel Bennett had touchdowns for the Golden Hawks.

TORONTO — Anthony Iafrate kicked an 18-yard field goal in the third quarter to give the Varsity Blues (1-1) the lead, and they held on to edge the Lancers (0-2).

LONDON, Ont. — Quarterback Will Finch tossed three TD strikes in the first half before being replaced by Josh Beach and the Mustangs (2-0) downed the Lions (0-2).
