VERNON, B.C. – Police say the owners of a family farm in Vernon, B.C., have reported several incidents of food theft from their “honour-system fridge” after a man helped himself to eggs and meat then left without paying.
RCMP say the first incident happened last month, when a man allegedly took a dozen eggs from the fridge and didn’t put any money into a jar.
The family reported the same person returned three days later and allegedly took off with $100 worth of organic meat.
Const. Kelly Brett says the man came back two more times and again took food from the fridge without leaving any cash, potentially jeopardizing the way the small farm conducts business.
He says police have security footage of the accused food thief and are asking for the public’s help in finding him.
Brett says another man has been identified in one of the thefts.
