Plaque placed in front of former home of legendary country singer Patsy Cline in Frederick

FREDERICK, Md. – A plaque has been placed in front of a Frederick home where legendary country singer Patsy Cline once lived.

The Frederick News-Post reports (http://bit.ly/1UHbG4i ) that the plaque was dedicated at the home Tuesday, on what would have been Cline’s 83rd birthday.

Cline lived in home’s second-floor apartment from 1953 to 1957.

The Frederick Acoustic Music Enterprise, which promotes acoustical music events around the county, organized the placement of the plaque. The group’s president Rick Hill says Lough Memorials also contributed to the installation of the monument.

Cline, who was born Virginia Patterson Hensley, was known for her expressive voice. She became one of the genre’s first country-pop crossovers, helping to blaze a trail for other female country singers.

Cline died in a plane crash in 1963 at age 30.
