MAMMOTH, Calif. – Canada’s Brendan Mackay and Rachael Karker both earned medals in World Cup freeski halfpipe on Friday.
Mackay grabbed silver in the men’s event with 93 points on his third and final run.
The Calgary native finished behind Birk Irving (94) and ahead of David Wise (91.25), both of the U.S., on the podium.
Karker of Erin, Ont., picked up bronze in the women’s competition with her second-run score of 91.75.
China’s Kexin Zhang won gold (93.50), while Great Britain’s Zoe Atkin claimed silver (92.75).
The 25-year-old Karker is the reigning Olympic bronze medallist in the event.
