Homeless man arrested for vandalizing public piano in downtown Kelowna

KELOWNA – A man with no fixed address was arrested in downtown Kelowna after he was yelling and swearing, and damaged one of the city’s public pianos today.

According to Const. Jesse O’Donaghey, police received several calls reporting a man damaging one of the public pianos along the waterfront shortly after 9 a.m., July 8.

Witnesses told police the man was also yelling and swearing as he walked down the causeway.

“An officer with the Kelowna RCMP Bike Patrol Unit, partnered with a City of Kelowna Bylaw’s officer, intercepted the man not far from the scene,” O’Donaghey says in a media release. “He was placed under arrest and taken into custody without incident.”

A 23-year-old Kelowna man with no fixed address faces potential charges of mischief and causing a disturbance. He remains in police custody.
