Tourist who drowned in Skaha Lake last week identified

PENTICTON – The man who drowned in Skaha Lake last week has been identified.

Flaviu Attila Struczul, 33, of Satu Mare, Romania was in town visiting with a friend from the Lower Mainland on July 3. They were camping at Skaha Lake for the long weekend when, at around 1:45 p.m., Struczul went for a paddle board, according to a B.C. Coroners Service media release.

A witness saw him fall from the board after being hit with a gust of wind and appeared to be in trouble.

Emergency services were called and the Struczul’s body was found in approximately two metres of water.

He was taken to hospital but could not be resuscitated.

The Coroners Service and RCMP continue to investigate his death.
