Police seek owner of high end bicycle

PENTICTON – Penticton RCMP hope some additional publicity will help return a stolen bicycle to it rightful owner.

RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Don Wrigglesworth says a bicycle turned into the detachment on Saturday, July 9, and may have been stolen in Surrey two or three years ago, according to the person who turned it in.

The bike was stored for several years in the belief a friend had left it behind following a large party.

The person who turned the bike into the police eventually realized the value of it and checked for a serial number, but discovered it had been removed.

Assuming the bike most likely to have been stolen, he turned it over to the RCMP.

Wrigglesworth says the bike possibly belongs to a Surrey resident who will have a sales receipt or a police report of the theft to prove ownership.

The bike is believed to have retailed around $4,000 and is described as a specialized “Roubaix,” carbon frame bike, blue in colour with grey stripes, Bontrager tires, Shimano Ultrega wheels and components and a Selle Italia ladies gel seat.

The owner of the bike is asked to contact Cpl. Don Wrigglesworth of the Penticton RCMP at: 250-460-2157.

I have been looking for news in the South Okanagan - SImilkameen for 20 years, having turned a part time lifelong interest into a full time profession. After five years publishing a local newsletter, several years working as a correspondent / stringer for several local newspapers and seven years as editor of a Similkameen weekly newspaper, I joined iNFOnews.ca in 2014. My goal in the news industry has always been to deliver accurate and interesting articles about local people and places. My interest in the profession is life long - from my earliest memories of grade school, I have enjoyed writing.
As an airborne geophysical surveyor I travelled extensively around the globe, conducting helicopter borne mineral surveys.
I also spent several years at an Okanagan Falls based lumber mill, producing glued-wood laminated products.
As a member of the Kaleden community, I have been involved in the Kaleden Volunteer Fire Department for 22 years, and also serve as a trustee on the Kaleden Irrigation District board.
I am currently married to my wife Judy, of 26 years. We are empty-nesters who enjoy living in Kaleden with our Welsh Terrier, Angus, and cat, Tibbs.
