New gang on streets of Kelowna
KELOWNA – Police say a new gang is heavily armed and selling drugs in Kelowna.
Kelowna RCMP Const. Jesse O’Donaghey said during a press conference today, July 13, that earlier this month police executed a warrant at a West Kelowna home and arrested two men and a woman. A seven-year-old child was also taken into the care of the Ministry of Child and Family Development.
Among the items displayed at the conference was several guns, bottles of GHB, cocaine, methamphetamines, a stun gun disguised as a cane and a leather vest with three patches on the back reading Kelowna Warriors.
“The Kelowna Warriors are known to RCMP,” O’Donaghey said. “They have identified themselves as a gang.”
O’Donaghey wouldn’t say how large the gang is but said they may have a connection to a Manitoba gang.
The 24-year-old West Kelowna woman who was arrested at the home on Windt Road July 7 was released without charges. An unnamed 37-year-old West Kelowna man was also released but, according to O’Donaghey, still faces charges of drug and weapons possession. Tyson Ashleigh Bone, 32, is the only suspect named during the conference. He is charged with numerous trafficking and weapons charges.
Inside the home police found a crossbow, 12-gauge Mossberg 88 shotgun, SKS rifle, lever action rifle, .308 M14 rifle, .22 rifle, two .45 caliber handguns, a .22 caliber handgun, nine 500ml bottles of GBH, six grams of cocaine and 20 grams of methamphetamines.

– This story was corrected July 14 at 2:30 p.m. A reader, Mark Bronacki, pointed out the caliber of the M14 is .308 and not .309.
