Kamloops area road closed due to ‘police incident’

Police closed a stretch of Paul Lake Road near Kamloops early Tuesday morning, but it's not clear why.

The road is closed from near Chief Louis Way to Cold Creek Road, 30 kilometres east of the city, according to DriveBC.

DriveBC lists the closure as a "police incident" and drivers in the area can take the eastbound detour via Pinantan-Pritchard Road. Traffic control workers were stationed at the barricade just passed the nearby Esso gas station, but police were not visible.

It was closed by at least 3:35 a.m. and it's not clear when it will reopen.

Kamloops RCMP has not responded to inquiries about the incident.
