After a stormy start, watch for sunshine later this week in the Okanagan

OKANAGAN – Another wet summer weekend is in the books for the Okanagan, but after some rain to start the week, thing dry out by Wednesday.

Environment Canada is forecasting highs around 27 Celsius in Vernon, Kelowna and Penticton today, July 18, with a 40 per cent chance of showers. There is a risk of thunderstorms this afternoon and a severe thunderstorm watch has been issued. Forgetting the rain and the possible storms, today's high temperature is right on track with the seasonal normal of 27 C.

The forecast calls for a high of 22 C and 5 to 10 mm of rain in Kelowna and Vernon tomorrow. In Penticton, expect cloudy skies, a 60 per cent chance of rain and a high of 23 C. Thunderstorms are a possibility tomorrow up and down the Okanagan Valley.

For Wednesday, a mix of sun and cloud in the Okanagan with a high of 27.

Sunshine and highs around the 30 C mark for both Thursday and Friday.
