UPDATE: Two children and two adults in hospital after Coquihalla crash

KAMLOOPS – Two children are in stable condition and two adults have serious injuries after a serious rollover on the Coquihalla yesterday.

Kamloops RCMP say in a news release it happened just after 11 a.m., July 19, on Highway 5 in the Inks Lake area when the van they were travelling in left the road and rolled several times.

"Seat belt use and side airbags aided in preventing more serious injuries," Cpl. Jodi Shelkie says in the release. "However, minimum tire tread may have been a factor in the collision."

There were two other incidents near the Inks Lake Road exit yesterday, both vehicles rolled but the drivers were uninjured. Hydroplaning was a contributing factor in all three crashes, Shelkie says.

That stretch of the Coquihalla Highway experienced heavy rainfall yesterday, and when the rollovers started happening, RCMP issued a warning to slow down and drive to road conditions.
