MEXICO CITY – Mexican prosecutors have detained and extradited a U.S. citizen suspected of posting on social media platforms in support of radical Islamic and jihadi movements.
The federal prosecutors’ office identified the suspect only as Mohammed, without providing his last name, a usual practice under privacy protection rules.
The office said Friday the FBI had issued an alert for the man, who was detained by immigration agents in the southern state of Chiapas near the Guatemala border.
The man was deported Friday on a flight to Washington D.C.
