Drunk Kelowna cyclist injured after grabbing moving vehicle

KELOWNA – An intoxicated man was taken to hospital after a bizarre series of events in Kelowna last Friday.

RCMP say on July 22 at around 8:30 p.m. they received several calls about a drunk man riding a bicycle up and down the street in the area of Dickson Avenue and Burtch Road. He was yelling and slapping vehicles with his hand.

“The man reportedly slapped a mobile lifted blue Chevrolet pickup truck, then grabbed onto the vehicle and wouldn't let go,” Const. Jesse O’Donaghey says. “The vehicle reportedly sped away causing the man to spin off his bike and land on the roadway.

The man, whose identity and age has not been released, was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
