Shooting of Ontario man at Vancouver mall believed to be linked to gangs: police

VANCOUVER – Vancouver police say a gang conflict is likely behind the city’s latest murder.

Investigators say 30-year-old Duy Ly Nguyen of Ontario has been identified as the man who was shot while sitting in a vehicle on Sunday.

Police were called to a strip mall on the city’s west side after numerous 911 reports that a passenger in a white Toyota Camry had been shot.

Officers say the shooting is believed to be targeted and may involve an ongoing gang war.

The death is the 13th murder in the city so far this year.

No arrests have been made, and police have not provided the man’s hometown.
