President Bush ’41’ makes surprise visit to his Massachusetts prep school for documentary

ANDOVER, Mass. – Students at Phillips Academy received a surprise visit from a distinguished alumnus — former President George H.W. Bush.

The 91-year-old attended a screening Wednesday of a documentary on his life called “41on41.” Bush, the 41st president, graduated from the prep school in Andover, Massachusetts, in 1942.

Former first lady Barbara Bush also attended the screening. She’s one of 41 storytellers who speak in the film, along with family members, world leaders, sports figures and White House staffers.

The former president told students their school “meant so much to me in my life.”

He last visited the campus in 2003 for its 225th anniversary.

The Bushes’ sons including former President George W. Bush and former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush also attended the school.

The Bushes have a summer home in Maine.
