Unlawful residents move out of North Shore problem home

KAMLOOPS – The people living in a suite in a problem home in the North Shore have left the building and police have secured the residence.

RCMP say officers went to check out the home yesterday, Aug. 9, to confirm the "unlawful" people living there had left.

"No one was in the house and the home has been secured," Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Jodi Shelkie says in a media release.

Police had previously been called to the home in the 900 block of 13 Street several times, most recently last month when gunshots were reportedly fired, Shelkie says. Suspects were seen fleeing the area and two firearms were seized outside of the residence. No one was injured.

Officers found five people living in the home without lawful right at the time.

"As a result of the investigation and with the cooperation of the homeowner, it was determind the people causing problems in the home were not tenants but people using an empty suite illegally," Shelkie says in the release.

The investigation into the shots fired is ongoing with no suspects in custody at this time, she says.
