Second annual Great Ogopogo Bathtub race a fundraiser for Penticton hospital tower
PENTICTON – Ladies and gentlemen, prepare to start your bathtubs.
The second annual Great Ogopogo Bathtub Race takes place Saturday, Aug. 20 at Powell Beach in Summerland.
The Summerland Yacht Club is hosting the event once again as it supports the South Okanagan Similkameen Medical Foundation’s $20 million dollar fundraising campaign to provide medical equipment to the Penticton Regional Hospital expansion.
Summerland Yacht Club commodore John Fitzgerald says he was pleasantly surprised at the success of last year’s race and says the club’s membership is firmly committed to supporting the hospital.
The event goes from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 20, with a 40 kilometre main race, a Nanaimo exhibition race and fun family races.
Other activities include sand sculpting, live entertainment, family activities, barbecue and a beverage garden.
