SEQUOIA NATIONAL PARK, Calif. – The Latest on a hiker who was missing in Sequoia National Park (all times local):
5:10 p.m.
A hiker who went missing days ago in Sequoia National Park has been found safe.
The National Park Service says a helicopter on Saturday found 49-year-old Edward Newbegin hiking on a trail.
He was uninjured and was escorted out of the area to reunite with his family.
Newbegin was described as an experienced hiker. He became separated from a group in the Sierra Nevada park on Wednesday and was reported missing after he failed to make a rendezvous.

Authorities are searching for a hiker who went missing in California’s Sequoia National Park.
The Park Service says 49-year-old Edward Newbegin became separated from a group of hikers last Wednesday in the lower Big Arroyo area of the park, which is located in the Sierra Nevadas.
A ground and air search is underway for Newbegin, who’s described as an experienced hiker.
