Royal Inland Hospital opens outpatient services in new building

KAMLOOPS – Some of the departments at Royal Inland Hospital have moved into the new clinical services building.

Hospital health service director Kris Kristjanson says outpatient services are in the top two floors of the new clinical services building. This includes cardiology, respirology and infectious diseases. Outpatient services are those not requiring an overnight stay at the hospital

“The space itself is larger than some of the old clinical services,” he says. “I think people will find the space is very pleasing.”

Kristjanson adds it’ll be an easier visit for most people with the new parkade underneath outpatient services.

Not all elements are quite finished in the new building. A 120 seat lecture hall is among the rooms still being touched up.

Some outpatient services will remain in the main hospital building. The areas vacated by services now in the new building will be used for something, but Kristjansen says those transitions haven’t been planned yet.

The parkade opened on July 25 adding 127 new public spaces.

A grand opening for the building is planned for this fall, though a specific date hasnt' been set.
