CAE wins $300 million in contracts, including simulators to Air Canada

MONTREAL – Flight training and simulator company CAE Inc. says it won contracts valued at more than $300 million from 15 airlines, including Air Canada.

The Montreal-based company said the contracts included the sale of nine full-flight simulators.

CAE has sold 24 simulators in the first half of the year, putting it on pace to match its record of 48 such sales in a single year.

Air Canada (TSX:AC) ordered two Boeing 737Max simulators along with other training devices.

The training suite will be delivered to the carrier’s training centre in Toronto before it receives delivery of the first re-engined narrowbody planes in 2017. Air Canada placed a firm order for 61 of the Boeing planes but could increase the order to 109 planes to replace older Airbus and Embraer aircraft.

In addition to simulator orders from various airlines, CAE (TSX:CAE) says its has secured cabin crew and pilot training contracts from three European carriers and various training centre operations and training equipment maintenance contracts with customers in North America and the Middle East.
