Proposed four-storey apartment building in Penticton going to public hearing
PENTICTON – City council has given plans for a four-story apartment building in Penticton preliminary approval moving the proposal forward to a public hearing.
The proposed development at 273 Scott Ave. would create 16 new rental units in the city.
City planning manager Blake Laven noted a previous development proposal in 2012 for a 17-unit, three-storey apartment building failed to win public approval due to concerns the building was too close to neighbouring properties, parking issues and the development was overbuilt for the lot size.
The developer has since revised the plans and wants to build a 16-unit, four-storey building. The design for the new building takes into account the concerns raised in 2012.
Council approved a rezoning and variance permit application allowing the development to move forward to a public hearing on Sept. 6.
