SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico – The U.S. Coast Guard says it has ended the search for a cruise ship crew member who apparently went overboard in the Caribbean Sea.
Coast Guard rescue crews searched unsuccessfully for the 37-year-old from the Philippines in rough seas south of the U.S. Virgin Islands. The Coast Guard said Thursday that its crews covered an area of about 1,200 square nautical miles in the effort.
The man identified as Michael M. Majaba apparently went overboard early Wednesday from the seventh deck of the MSC Seaside as the cruise ship was en route to Puerto Rico from St. Maarten.
