New Hallmark movie series to film in Oliver

OLIVER – Oliver will be the setting of a new movie series that will begin shooting later this month.

Hallmark’s Autumn in the Vineyard will begin filming Aug 28 in the Oliver area, the Okanagan Film Commission said today, Aug. 26.

Rachael Leigh Cook stars in the series, based on the 2013 book by the same name, written by Marina Adair.

It’s the story of aspiring wine maker Frank Baudouin, who wants to turn his ranch into an award-winning winery, while potential love interest Nate DeLuca has similar plans. The two must put their differences and initial distrust of each other aside in order to bring their plans to fruition, and they fall in love along the way.

Production began in Vancouver Aug. 14 and will film until Sept. 3.

The series will air Sunday nights premiering Oct. 15 at 9 p.m. on the U.S. Hallmark channel.

Okanagan Film Commission’s Jon Summerland notes how increasing comparisons between the Okanagan and California’s Napa Valley are resulting in more and more productions being brought into the region.
