Youth seriously hurt in Surrey, B.C., stabbing likely knew attacker, say police

SURREY, B.C. – RCMP in Surrey, B.C., are investigating a stabbing.

A news release from the Surrey detachment says a youth was stabbed several times just before 8 p.m. Wednesday.

It happened in a busy area of the Whalley neighbourhood, close to a SkyTrain station, community centre and Simon Fraser University’s Surrey campus

Staff Sgt. Murray Hedderson says RCMP received several 911 calls about the attack.

He says the youth was rushed to hospital and remains in serious but stable condition.

No arrests have been made, but police believe the suspect and victim are known to each other and investigators want to speak to anyone who witnessed the stabbing or saw someone fleeing afterward.
