Germany: prosecutors probe Frankfurt shooting that wounded 2

BERLIN – Authorities in Frankfurt are carrying out searches following a daylight shooting in a downtown square that left two men seriously wounded.

Prosecutors say several shots were fired Thursday afternoon at a car, and that two men inside were wounded. They said Friday that unidentified men sitting outside a cafe apparently had been waiting for the victims to arrive.

Prosecutor Nadja Niesen told n-tv television that investigators suspect the shooting stems from a clash between biker gangs. They are investigating on suspicion of attempted murder.

She said searches were conducted on Friday.

The victims were taken to hospitals. Their injuries are not life-threatening.
