FALL RIVER, Mass. – A friend of ex-New England Patriots player Aaron Hernandez has lost his bid to have a murder indictment against him tossed out.
Lawyers for Ernest Wallace had wanted a Massachusetts court to dismiss the indictment, citing lack of probable cause and impairment of the integrity of the grand jury proceedings. But a judge denied that motion Monday.
Hernandez, Wallace and Carlos Ortiz were charged in the 2013 killing of Odin (OH’-dihn) Lloyd, who was dating the sister of Hernandez’s fiancee. Hernandez, Wallace and Ortiz are from Bristol, Connecticut.
Lloyd’s body was found in an industrial park near Hernandez’s home in North Attleborough, Massachusetts, near the Rhode Island border.
Hernandez was convicted and is appealing a life sentence. Wallace and Ortiz have pleaded not guilty.
Hernandez also stands accused of killing two men outside a Boston nightclub in 2012.
