Some of the most active companies traded Tuesday on the Toronto Stock Exchange:

Toronto Stock Exchange (13,280.39, down 37.13 points):

Bombardier Inc. (TSX:BBD.B). Aerospace, rail equipment. Down two cents, or 1.59 per cent, to $1.24 on 9.5 million shares. Bombardier says its long-delayed CS100 aircraft has completed certification flight testing and is awaiting a final review and acceptance by Transport Canada. The Quebec-based company says all that remains now is to finalize the submission of the remaining documentation to Transport Canada for the smaller of its two CSeries jets.

St Andrew Goldfields Ltd. (TSX:SAS). Miner. Up 1.5 cents, or 3.95 per cent, to 39.5 cents on 7.6 million shares.

Barrick Gold Corp. (TSX:ABX). Miner. Down 88 cents, or 8.65 per cent, to $9.29 on 5.1 million shares.

B2Gold Corp. (TSX:BTO). Miner. Down six cents, or 4.17 per cent, to $1.38 on five million shares.

Baytex Energy Corp. (TSX:BTE). Oil and gas. Down 35 cents, or 5.68 per cent, to $5.81 on 4.8 million shares.

First Quantum Minerals Ltd. (TSX:FM). Miner. Up 12 cents, or 2.41 per cent, to $5.10 on 4.8 million shares.

Companies reporting major news:

Canadian Pacific Railway (TSX:CP). Transportation. Up $1.43, or 0.78 per cent, to $184.68 on 451,538 shares. Canadian Pacific Railway says it has proposed a merger with U.S.-based Norfolk Southern Corp. to create a transcontinental railroad. The Calgary-based railway said the proposal includes a sizable premium and cash and stock, although details weren’t immediately available. Canadian Pacific said the merger could create a company with the potential for faster earnings growth than either railway could achieve on its own.
