Lumby man identified in fatal crash outside Golden

LUMBY – The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of the man who died in a single-vehicle crash on Highway 1 near Golden last week.

Ralph Alexander Coombs, 62, from Lumby was killed in the crash on the Trans Canada just after 12 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 28, according to a media release.

Coombs was driving a commercial transport truck eastbound on Highway 1 about 30 kilometres west of Golden when he lost control and the vehicle went down a 20-metre embankment, the coroner says.

Coombs was pronounced dead at the scene.

The RCMP and the BC Coroners Service continues to investigate.
