The City’s 2017 budget planning sessions have been rescheduled from November 22 -25, 2016 to January 24-27, 2017. The change is a direct result of initial engagement sessions which showed that citizens do not believe the City has been listening and acting on feedback gathered in previous public consultations. To better incorporate citizen feedback into the decision-making process, the City is lengthening the engagement period to provide more detail to the public and to hear from more citizens prior to in Council budget deliberations. The shift to a later date will not impact day-to-day City operations.
Taking the time to gather input from a broad variety of stakeholders and managing our infrastructure funding with a well thought out long-term financial plan is critical to maintaining the services, facilities and quality of life we all enjoy today for future generations of Penticton residents.
